SportAccord is the latest sports organisation to adopt the .sport domain extension programme, delivered and managed by GAISF, migrating all of its digital activity on to the exclusive domain.
With the next SportAccord summit scheduled for May 2019 in Gold Coast, Australia, the .sport domain will bring even more credibility, meaning and identity to the world sport and business summit.
SportAccord, which annually brings together representative from more than 100 International Sport Federations, has joined a rapidly-growing number of sports organisations in adopting the .sport domain for their digital brand. Organisations such as the International University Sport Federation, the International Testing Agency and Lausanne2020 Youth Olympic Games have all added the .sport extension.
GAISF and SportAccord President, Patrick Baumann, has said that the role of .sport is changing the digital landscape of sport.
“.sport presents an opportunity for each bona fide sports organisation to develop its own digital identity, stand out from the crowd and act as a symbol of authenticity, which is recognised all around the world.”
Applications for the .sport extension programme are being accepted until 6 November. Interested parties, from sports organisations, companies and individuals throughout the wider sports world can register their application at https://start.sport, or through one of the .sport accredited registrars. From January 2019, the extension will then be open for general availability (acceptance still subject to approval from GAISF).
